restore YOUR INNER CALM.
EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a type of therapy that aims to reduce the disturbance caused by traumatic events.
EMDR integrates various psychotherapy approaches, including psychoanalysis, CBT, somatic therapy, and exposure therapy. The healing process involves transforming the emotions, behaviors, and thoughts linked to the distressing event. This leads to the creation of new memory networks, and the images, thoughts, and sensations once connected to the traumatic or distressing event are reorganized within the brain. This reorganization paves the way for resolution and healing.

FAQs
How long will it take?
Each traumatic event that we target can take 8-12 sessions to completely “clear,” meaning we have gone through all 8 phases of EMDR and you are reporting no disturbance when thinking about that targeted event. Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes each, depending on your insurance coverage.
How is it different than other therapies?
EMDR therapy doesn't require you to dive deep into talking about your distressing experiences or do homework in between sessions. Instead, it helps your brain heal naturally, focusing on unprocessed traumatic memories.
The goal of EMDR therapy is to help your brain process these memories, and many people find that it can be quicker than other types of therapy.

EMDR therapy can be a really nice complement to traditional talk therapy models. I am able to take on clients specifically for EMDR treatment while they continue their traditional talk therapy with their established therapist.

What is trauma?
Everyone experiences trauma differently and how one individual deals with a traumatic event isn’t necessarily the same way another would handle it. Trauma can be a one-time event, like an accident or a natural disaster, or it can be something that happens continuously, like abuse or neglect.
Generational trauma is a less-recognized form of trauma, where the adverse effects of past generations' experiences are inherited over time, becoming a part of a family's culture. This might manifest as: challenges in openly discussing or expressing emotions, parental anxiety toward their children, or family dynamics characterized by either a lack of boundaries or strict rigidity.
Our goal is to reduce the emotional charge that those traumatic memories have.
