Insurance faqs

  • No, I am no longer taking insurance and am only taking “out of pocket” or “self pay” clients at this time. This is because if we utilize your insurance plan, that means that your insurance company will require a mental health diagnosis be made on the first visit in order to deem the care “medically necessary”, progress notes on what we do in our sessions, and an updated treatment plan every few months to determine if you still qualify for services. I believe that the therapy experience should be between you and I, not dictated by a third party!

  • I can provide you with a superbill to submit to insurance companies so you can use your out-of-network benefits, if applicable.

  • Initial Assessment -$150

    50 minute session/EMDR Session- $150

Using OON benefits

Many insurance plans have out-of-network (OON) benefits. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at the time of your appointment. Then, I can provide a superbill each month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Typically, insurance companies reimburse between 60-80% of the cost of each session. I recommend contacting your insurance company to get verification for your specific plan.

I recommend using Reimbusify for easily filing out-of-network claims. Many insurance providers also have a patient portal where you can submit your claims.

You’re worth the investment.

Cancelation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule our sessions, I ask for 48 hours’ notice.

I do realize that sometimes life happens and we can’t always predict what may arise. I do my best to work with everyone on a case-by-case basis about this policy, but in most cases of a late cancelation or no-show there will be a non refundable $100 fee.

After 3 no-show or late cancelation appointments, the client will be discharged from services.

For testing appointments for autism evaluations and EMDR intensive sessions, the no-show fee will be half the cost of the evaluation or intensive.

Good faith estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

● You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

● Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

● If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

● Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

Therapy with me is

Collaborative. An experience where you and I work together to make sure you get the best outcome, not just me dictating your treatment plan.

Authentic. You’re getting my true self, not just “therapist Hannah”, but my genuine personality. This helps me engage with clients and build a strong connection.

Flexible. Therapy isn’t “one size fits all” and each person may need something a little different. I stay flexible within sessions, including the modality that we use. EMDR not your jam? Thats fine! I use multiple different modalities to ensure I can always flex to you and your needs as they come up.

Therapy with me is not

Rigid. Life happens, things change. Our sessions aren’t going to be limited to just what you presented with on the first day. We are going to adapt and work on stressors that may come up throughout our time together as well.

Dry. I love to try to make the therapy experience as engaging and enjoyable as possible. It doesn’t need to be like the “TV therapy” sessions that we’ve all seen in movies (and probably made fun of a time or two). We can try to have a little fun, too!

“Just business”. Being your therapist isn’t just a job for me; I went into this field because I have a passion for helping others and want to see you breathe that sigh of relief. This isn’t just business for me, I genuinely love seeing my clients thrive.
